Delaware Township was founded in 1808, and is home to 1,559 people today. Delaware Township consists of 11.87 miles of roads, intertwined with the City of Delaware. The newest subdivisions in Delaware Township are Royal Dornoch, and Myers Glen.

Another feature of Delaware Township is the Stratford Ecological Center Stratford Ecological Center located at 3083 Liberty Rd. In 1991, this 236 acre property was declared a privately owned state nature preserve, meaning it cannot be developed.
